Parent & Guardian Code of Conduct Agreement

SOUTHERNMOST HOCKEY CLUB

Parent & Guardian Code of Conduct Agreement

PLAYER-FIRST • RESPECT • SAFETY • SPORTSMANSHIP

Southernmost Hockey Club is committed to providing a safe, positive, respectful, and enjoyable environment for every youth player.

As a parent or guardian, I understand that my behavior has a direct impact on my child, their teammates, coaches, officials, volunteers, and the overall hockey environment.

By participating in Southernmost Hockey Club activities, I agree to the following expectations.

I Agree To

Put my child first. I will support my child's development, effort, enjoyment, and sportsmanship rather than focusing solely on winning or statistics.

Let the coaches coach. I will not yell instructions, criticize players, or attempt to coach from the stands or sidelines.

Respect restricted team and official areas. Once my child is dressed and ready, I will leave the area behind the player benches and scorekeeper's table during practices and games.

Watch only from approved spectator areas. Parents and guardians are not permitted on the player benches during practices or games. I may watch from the ends of the rink or designated spectator stands unless Club staff or facility rules direct otherwise.

Respect coaches and volunteers. I will address concerns privately and appropriately through the Club's communication process.

Respect referees and officials. I will accept calls and decisions without arguing, threatening, insulting, or confronting officials.

Respect all players and families. I will not bully, harass, intimidate, embarrass, or publicly criticize another player, parent, coach, official, or volunteer.

Be a positive spectator. I will cheer appropriately, encourage effort, and help create a positive environment for all players.

Use appropriate language and behavior. I will not use profanity, obscene gestures, threats, discriminatory comments, or aggressive behavior at Club activities.

Handle disagreements appropriately. When possible, I will allow a 24-hour cooling-off period before addressing emotionally charged concerns with a coach or Club representative. This does not apply to immediate safety concerns or serious misconduct.

Use social media responsibly. I will not use social media to attack, threaten, harass, embarrass, or publicly criticize Club members, players, coaches, officials, volunteers, or families.

Put safety first. I will support the Club's safety policies, including injury, concussion, heat-safety, equipment, and return-to-play procedures.

Never engage in violence or threats. I understand that fighting, physical confrontation, threats, or intimidating behavior may result in immediate removal or suspension from Club activities.

I Understand

I have received or have access to the Southernmost Hockey Club Parent & Guardian Code of Conduct contained in the Club Participant Handbook.

I understand that violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including:

  • A verbal or written warning
  • A meeting with Club leadership
  • Removal from a practice, game, event, or facility
  • Suspension of spectator privileges
  • Suspension of Club participation or membership
  • Termination of Club membership when appropriate

Serious misconduct may result in immediate disciplinary action without the use of progressive discipline.

I understand that my child's participation in Southernmost Hockey Club is a privilege and that my conduct as a parent or guardian is expected to support a safe, respectful, positive, and enjoyable hockey environment.
